Hagi Ware Tea Set

฿5,800.00

A handcrafted Hagi ware tea set by Ichiozan (一鷗山), representing a ceramic tradition with over 300 years of history and one of Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns, originating in the Edo period (17th century).

Hagi ware is admired for its soft, natural surfaces and ash-based glaze with fine crackle, created using local clay and plant ash fired in a traditional wood kiln. Ichiozan, an accomplished potter active from the late Showa to early Heisei period, continued this lineage through fully hand-built production.

Over time, the crackle glaze gently absorbs tea, developing a subtle patina known as “the seven transformations of Hagi,” allowing the vessels to mature beautifully with use.

The set includes a side-handle kyusu teapot, designed for comfortable grip and heat control, along with three matching teacups. The organic textures and quiet gray tones embody the spirit of wabi-sabi, making the set suitable for both tea and coffee.

Produced between c.1970–1990, this set is now 30–50 years old, preserved in excellent condition and accompanied by its original wooden box. Only one complete set is available, enhancing its collectible value.
