This piece reflects the refined taste of the upper classes in the past. White-body Satsuma (Shiro Satsuma) was historically restricted to use by daimyō (feudal lords) and the ruling elite, symbolizing status, authority, and dignified beauty.
The ceramic features a soft ivory-white body, finely detailed crackle glaze (kannyū), and auspicious floral motifs painted in genuine gold. The work is produced through multiple firing stages at temperatures ranging from 750°C to 1250°C, requiring a high level of artisanal mastery.
